The Natural Collection
Stone, Marble, Slate, Terracotta
|
 |
Terracotta is natural clay and the tiles we display
are either handmade in Mexico or semi handmade in Spain.
Terracotta is very porous and requires sealing with boiled linseed
oil. This seals the tile and the number of coats you apply helps to
determine the colour. The boiled linseed oil needs to be applied before
the tiles are grouted; this prevents the tile from absorbing the water
from the grout. A further layer of protection is also necessary. This
can be achieved with either a wax or a synthetic sealant.
If this seems like hard work believe me the end result is worth it,
if your still not convinced then why not choose a ceramic look alike.
The slate is imported from India, China, Brazil and Europe. Slate
requires a certain amount of tender loving care, as indeed we all
do, though no two floors look the same.
